Idahoans for Choice in Education is an Idaho Political Action
Committee dedicated to improving education in Idaho. Our
mission is to give parents an independent voice in education by
supporting their right to choose the best education for their
children. Parental choice is the key to improving Idaho's
education system. Parents must be able to choose among public,
public charter, private and home schools. |

Are Idaho High Schools meeting the needs
of their Students?
The answer to that question depends upon what group of students
is responding. If it is the top 30% of our graduating classes,
the answer for the most part is, yes. If you are asking the
20-30% who never even get a high school diploma, or the
students who have a high school diploma, but are not entering
college, the answer is NO! |

Charter schools are not keeping up with
the demand, why?
Legislators: Idaho's 31 Charter Schools are providing over
10,000 students with an equal or better education than our
traditional schools and they are doing it at LESS cost to the
taxpayer. Isn't it time to take off their "restraints" and let
them flourish? |

Does Idaho really need a universal Pre-K
program?
Recently the Idaho legislature has been criticized in some
newspapers for its failure to support pre-k education for
Idaho's children. Those critics have cited research supporting
such programs and led readers to believe that the State will
save money in various ways if a pre-k program is funded. They
say by adding pre-k we will see lower costs associated with
special education and repeated grades, and that we will see
fewer pregnancies, fewer arrests and increased high school
graduation rates and college entrance rates. They frequently
cite research supporting their "cause' and that the majority of
Idahoans support pre-k and that a majority of States do as well.

Teachers who join IEA aren't getting what
they pay for!
Across the country teachers are abandoning their union, the
National Education Association, and well they should, especially
in the Northwest and certainly here in Idaho. All union teacher
members should be asking themselves the following questions:
What has the union done for me and how have they used my money?
Unfortunately for most, the union has done nothing but provide a
disservice for its members. |
